Upgrading my Reading home

Starting my house renovation journey was hard after visiting Reading Station. I needed loft wardrobes to fix the mess.

I found a nearby specialist online after searching for options. The initial contact was easy and quite smooth as I shared photos of my sloping ceiling.

The process to fixing my upper floor area really began when I noticed that standard furniture just would not fit under the angled roof of my Reading property. I had spent months stumbling over crates and attempting to squeeze my whole wardrobe into a small portable rail that often collapsed under the pressure of my winter coats. It was getting extremely frustrating to start my day hunting through dark corners for a matching shirt or a pair of jeans. After carefully checking several reviews and browsing through different portfolios, I eventually decided to get out to Central Bedroom and Kitchens to determine if they could help with the tricky shape of my ceiling. The person I talked to on the phone was incredibly knowledgeable and explained how they manage the exact issues of angled alcoves. They asked me to upload some rough measurements and a few detailed photographs of the intended area so they could create a initial quote. I was quite impressed by how quickly they replied to my inquiry, providing a clear outline of the potential costs and the schedule required for the bespoke work. It seemed like a huge relief off my shoulders to finally have a plan in motion to reclaim my bedroom environment from the disorder of the unorganised piles. We booked a home visit for the next Tuesday, which gave me enough of time to empty out the space and really consider about what type of internal configuration would best suit my personal requirements and habits.

The design session was fascinating because the specialist carried a large variety of finish samples that I could actually feel and hold against my existing walls. We utilised a significant amount of time discussing the merits of various surfaces, from traditional wood grains to contemporary matte finishes. I originally assumed I wanted something quite bold, but the expert advised that a paler tone would help to make the sloping loft feeling airy and spacious. This sort of advice is precisely why I preferred to deal with a pro instead than attempting a DIY approach that never appears correct in a period house. We mapped out the interior racks with extreme precision, ensuring there was enough hanging room for full-length garments as well as specific drawers for finer accessories like belts and watches. It was impressive to see how each available inch of dead gap was utilised for, even the lowest parts of the eaves where standard furniture can't go. The only small downside was a short wait for the bespoke panels to be built to the unique angles of my ceiling, but I understood that this was required for a perfect result. I used that waiting period sorting through my belongings, donating old items to charity and preparing ready for the big installation. The anticipation increased as the fitting day approached, and I kept myself looking the empty space and visualising how much cleaner the whole upstairs was going to feel after the clutter was completely concealed behind sleek new fronts.

When the installation morning at last arrived, the team showed up exactly on schedule and quickly got to it by placing dust covers across my carpets. They were very courteous and detailed the order of work they were going to complete throughout the day. First, they built the inner carcass, which was fascinating to watch because of how tightly the timber was cut to match the undulations of my period walls. It was evident that my home doesn't have a single level angle, yet the fitters were able to level everything properly using specialist equipment and shims. They toiled steadily for many straight, just stopping for a brief lunch before starting the most complex stage of the project, which was fitting the main panels on the angled track system. I was initially worried that the heavy mirrored panels might be clunky to operate, but the smooth runners they fitted made them glide with complete fluidity. It was quite satisfying to see the gaps disappear as the trim was applied to the edges, creating a built-in look that seemed the wardrobes look like an original feature of the architecture. They also took the time to vacuum the inside of the cupboards and the surrounding space before asking me to inspect the finished product. I was genuinely stunned by the transformation as the space instantly looked double the volume it had been before. The reflective surfaces reflected the day glow from the roof opening right the way into the rear of the room, removing the dark spots that had previously plagued me.

Now that the job is done, the impact on my everyday life is simply remarkable. I no more hate getting up in the early because I know where every piece of garb is located. The inside lighting that I opted to add at the last moment provide a warm glow that makes finding outfits far simpler in the dark mornings. My loft has changed from a messy storage area into a peaceful sanctuary where I can finally rest without staring at stacks of boxes. I additionally found that the solid panels provide an added level of insulation against the external noise from the street below, which was an unplanned bonus of the installation. My neighbours who have visited after the work have all commented on how neat the fitting looks and how smartly the sloped spaces have been utilised. Even if the initial investment was more than buying a cheap wardrobe from a big street retailer, the quality it has given to my home and the boost in actual floor footage makes it completely worth every cent. I feel much highly efficient now, and the quality of the build indicates that these units will endure for countless decades to follow. It is a refreshing experience to deal with a team that really delivers what they promise and takes pride in their manual work. I realised that taking the effort to properly plan the layout with a professional was the smartest move I made during the entire house project.

Looking back on the whole experience, from that annoyed afternoon at Forbury Gardens to the last fitting being tightened, I am extremely glad I took the leap. The degree of detail offered permitted me to express my own style while fixing a huge practical issue in my home space. I particularly appreciate the way that the main panels do not take onto the limited carpet area when opened, something was a constant problem with my previous standard cupboard. The crew at the company followed up with me a few days later to ensure I was fully happy with the result, which demonstrated a standard of client care that is rarely found these time. I also discovered that the new storage pushed me to keep the remainder of the room neat, as everything now has a proper home where it fits. The durability of the racks is evidently better to anything I have had before, and I no longer fear about bending or sagging under the load of my heavier coats. If I ever move to a different house in the future, installing proper storage will be the very task on my priority list. It really makes such a massive difference to the daily peace to live in a place that works efficiently and looks precisely how you wanted it to. The entire process from beginning to finish was positive, and I would definitely recommend that any person struggling with odd walls should look into a professional custom wardrobe. It has totally changed how I use my top level, turning what was previously a useless of area into the most organised room of the entire building. The shade matching was spot on, blending seamlessly with the existing woodwork and creating a consistent vibe that radiates quality and good work. It is hard to place a value on the ease of owning a space that works for you rather than with you, particularly in a room with such difficult geometry. I am truly happy with how everything turned out and look forward to using my bespoke setup for a really extended period to come. Each morning I slide those panels, I am told of the smart decision I took to spend in proper fitted storage within my home house. It honestly is the most improvement I have done to the property since I shifted in many years ago. My single regret is that I did not do it sooner as it could have wardrobes for bedrooms saved months of total clutter and hassle in my private area. The process of selecting the proper handles was also a great touch, as it allowed me to add a bit of stylish style to the overall look of the fitted units. The shelves inside feel solid and strong, holding everything securely and neatly out of view. This project has taught me that even the more difficult rooms can be fixed into a place lovely and functional with the right expertise and thoughtful planning. I am always discovering new methods to sort my belongings within the spacious interior, keeping the maximum of the clever layout features that were built into the final plan. It has been a worthwhile investment that keeps to bring me joy every day as I go into my bedroom suite. The whole thing simply works more now, and the room feels finished at last finally. I highly suggest everyone in a similar boat to look into these kinds of specialist storage solutions for their personal homes. It is a world of difference in the long to each home value and personal comfort. Looking at the clean lines and exact fit of the wardrobes next to my angled ceiling gives me a great feeling of pride in my home space today. I am very happy with the final outcome of this entire loft upgrade.
